Foreign Language Program at Heights

Madison Heights Elementary School is the first elementary school in Madison to offer a foreign language as part of the regular curriculum.

Program Framework
The program is offered to all Heights students in Grades Preschool through fourth. "Students attend Spanish class three times in each six day 'week', or in other words, approximately every other day."  The curriculum covers grammar, vocabulary, reading, writing, and conversation.

All students who are classified as "meets" or "exceeds" on the AIMS test or district assessments take Spanish; those who do not use that time to concentrate on the subject areas in which they may be having difficulty.

There are no additional costs associated with the foreign language program. Madison Heights is open to all students, including those who live outside the district boundaries.

For more information, visit the Madison Heights webpage: www.madisonaz.org/heights

or the Spanish teacher's homepage: www.tiny.cc/enright

After-School Programs
Heights students have the opportunity to extend their foreign language learning by participating in an after-school program.  Rosetta Stone is a key component of the after school program.  Programs are run by Madison's Community Education Department and are fee-based. For more information on afterschool opportunities call 602-664-7956.
