 Madison #1 Announcements:  

 

  • Student Activity Fee:  The Madison District Governing Board has set a standard student activity fee for all of the schools in the district.  The new fee is $50 per student.  This is the same amount that we collected last year.  This fee will be placed in a general tax credit fund for our school.  If you would like to take advantage of the entire tax credit that is available, please fell free to add additional funds to the fee.  A family filing jointly can give up to $400 and a single head of household can give $250.  Your student's activity fee will be used to pay for students ids, student awards, assemblies, field trips/busses and the Character Always student recognition program.  We began collecting the fee at the All Student Registration on July 29th.  If you have not yet paid the Student Activity fee please drop off your payment with the Student Activity form in the school office.  Thank you!
  •  School Hours: Monday-Tuesday-Thursday-Friday 8am - 3:10pm and Wednesday 8am - 1:35pm (*except when noted on the calendar) 

    • TCT Dismissal Wednesday, September 1, 2010.  1:35pm Dismissal Time.
    • Jamba Juice on sale after school Wednesday, 9/1.  Proceeds benefit the Madison #1 Athletic program.
    • Friday After-School Snack Bar -  All snacks are $1 each and all proceeds benefit the Athletic program.
          • Madison #1 Athletics:  Visit the Athletic page for current athletic schedules.  Schedules are subject to change.
          • Environmental Club:  Next Environmental Club meeting is Monday, August 30th.  Meetings for Environmental Club are every other Monday from 3:10pm - 4:10pm.  Pick up an Environmental Club application in the front office in  Ms. Vaaler's classroom C231.  Applications are due back to Ms. Vaaler by Monday, August 30th.
          • No School Monday, September 6th - Closed for Labor Day
          • 1st Quarter PBIS/PAWS Reward Trip:  Students must meet this criteria in order to participate in the 1st Quarter PBIS/PAWS Reward trip in October. 

          2:1 ratio positives to infractions on their Character Cards

          No electronic violations

          No failing grades

          No unexcused absences or tardies (Please remember absences and tardies must be excused within 48 hours of the occurrence.  The attendance line is 24 hour line that you can call and leave a message at anytime you know that your child will be late or absent.)

          1 or less cell phone violations

                 Public Notice for Destruction of Records

                 

                Following the microfilming of these records, all permanent original cumulative records of students born in 1993, who have withdrawn from the Madison School District, will be destroyed.  In addition, all permanent cumulative records of students who graduated from Madison Schools in 2007 will destroyed.  Before any records are destroyed, parents have the right to review and obtain copies of their child's records.  Please contact Madison School District, Student Records/Special Education Department, at 602-664-7958 before May 28, 2010

                Todos los expedientes original permanentes de los estudiantes nacidos en 1993 que se trasladaron fuera de las escuelas de Madison y todos los expedientes permanentes de los estudiantes que se graduaron de las escuelas Madison en el 2007 seran destruidos despues de archivarlos en microficha.  Antes de que cualquier expediente sea destruido los padres tienen el derecho de revisar los expedientes y de obtener copias.  Por favor pongase en contacto con el Departamento de Educacion Especial/Departamento de Expedientes del Distrito Escolar Madison al 602.664.7958 antes el 28 de Mayo de 2010.

                   

                   

                   

                   

                  Cafeteria News:

                  LUNCH PRICES:   Lunch prices will remain the same for the 2010/2011 school year.

                  REFUNDS:   Any left over account monies will be forwarded to the next school year. 

                   CHARGES:  Please make sure to pay all charges prior to the end of the school year.

                   ADVANCE PAYMENTS for the 2010/11 school meals can be made in the cafeteria on Thursday, July 29, from 7:00 A.M.-7:00 P.M.  Money can also be deposited in your child's account online through "mylunchmoney.com" beginning August 2nd.  You will need to provide your child's student number and birth date in order to do this.  Call 602-664-7909 or 602-664-7919 if you need assistance.  Advance payments will make it easier for your child on the first day of school.  If you do not make advance payments, please be sure your child/children have money for breakfast and lunch each day. 

                   FREE AND REDUCED:   If your child is on Free or Reduced lunches this year they will remain at their current status for the first 30 days of school.  Please remember you need to reapply every year.  New applications will be sent home with all students the first week of school.  Income guidelines will be on the application.  Families NEW to Madison District can fill out applications during registration on July 29, 2010.

                   

                   

                  2010-2011 Student Dress Code:  Student dress and grooming are generally a matter of personal choice. However, we recognize there is a relationship between student dress and student success, school pride, the safety and general welfare of students and staff, and the accomplishments of the curriculum goals and educational objectives. Be sure to dress for success! 

                   

                  The following items may not be worn at school or any school related event or activity: 

                   

                  • Clothes that are displaying dual meaning or obscene language  
                  • Clothes displaying symbols, jewelry or gang affiliation
                  • No visible undergarments or sleepwear as outerwear
                  • Clothes that expose the back, chest, abdomen, midriff, genital area, buttocks, or undergarments.
                  • No spaghetti straps, sleeveless shirts, low cleavage type necklines, sagging shorts/pants, frayed or torn clothing and short shorts
                  • Clothing that has drugs, alcohol, tobacco or weapons of any kinds
                  • Hat must be worn outdoors only and facing forwards
