Madison School District

Madison School District, established in 1890, currently serves nearly 6,000 students from preschool to eighth grade across eight schools. Throughout our more than 130-year history, we have focused on our commitment to educating Arizona’s children and preparing them for the future. We provide a solid educational foundation and embrace their natural curiosity to help them develop into lifelong learners.

Madison is more than just a school district - we are a community. The generational ties across the district are truly unique. Many of our community members, and teachers and staff were Madison students. We often hear stories from parents who are also former Madison students and have chosen to send their own children to our schools. This special connection and deep community roots speaks volumes about the quality of education and lasting impact of the Madison experience. This belief and commitment to carrying on the Madison legacy exemplifies the excellence and value that we bring to our students, families, staff and community.

Student Achievement

The combination of Madison's dedication to educating and supporting our students, staff, and families results in outstanding student performance, with students regularly scoring higher than the state average on standardized testing.

Our Signature Programs include:

  • International Baccalaureate (IB)
  • Visual & Performing Arts
  • STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Math)
  • Spanish Immersion
  • REACH - Profoundly Gifted
  • Traditional Academy

We offer before and after school programsschool break camps, athletics, and a variety of other clubs and activities where students have a productive and safe environment to enjoy fun, supervised activities with their peers.

Student & Family Support

We know that students learn best when they feel safe, supported and cared for. Our "whole child" approach addresses the academic, social, and emotional wellbeing of our students. Students learn to work together, respect one another, practice positive behaviors and create caring school cultures where everyone can learn and grow.

We implement multi-tiered systems of supports to make sure each student receives the help and support they need to be successful. We work with families to ensure they have the knowledge and resources needed to best support their child.

Heath & Wellness

The District Wellness Committee works to support the health and wellness of both students and staff.

The District Wellness Committee's goal is to involve parents, students, food service staff, physical education teachers, school health professionals and administrators in a collaborative approach to support, nutrition education and promotion, physical activity, and other school-based initiatives that promote health and wellness.

Financial Stability

Providing our students with resources and opportunities requires strong and responsible financial planning. As a result of our optimized use of financial resources, including funding through voter approved Bond and Override ballot initiatives, we are proud to be able to provide our students with strong educational resources, technology, and safe, modern learning spaces designed to enhance student learning.

Madison has received the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for more than 30 years and has a "Aaa" bond rating from Moody’s Investor Service.
