About Madison Park Middle School

  • Madison Park is home to the district’s STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Math) Signature Progam, combining best practice instruction with technology toolsets and Action Labs for hands-on, minds-on learning activities. STEAM provides context for science and math courses, making them more fun and interesting. This not only helps students learn, it helps them explore interests that could ultimately grow into a STEAM career. This combination of a strong academic focus with STEAM learning not only prepares students for career success, it provides an excellent foundation for both high school and college.

    Each year, Madison Park students complete a series of Action Learning Labs in a state of the art technology center. Here, students learn to use and manage technology through an interactive multimedia program, while engaging in authentic problem based learning. 1-to-1 technology, project-based learning, and group collaboration build their ability to understand, apply, and analyze information. Students learn through a balance of integrated technology, inquiry, and direct instruction. Technology standards are enhanced in career-based instructional units such as Audio Communications, Computer Aided Drafting (CAD), Computer Graphics and Animation, Digital Music, Information Technology, Laser Technology, and Video Production. Students also investigate content areas in interactive labs such as Forensic Science, Research and Development, Environment and Ecology, Electricity and Electronics, Energy and Power, and Alternative Energy.

    Madison Park students participate in lessons based on the NGSS Engineering Practices, develop engineering skills through a variety of experiences, participate in instructional units that emphasize engineering such as Computer Aided Drafting, Flight Technology, Robotics, Structural Engineering, and Visual Architecture. Park also partners with the STEAM Community, bringing in guests and STEAM Professionals to demonstrate and share how science, technology, engineering, and mathematics play a critical role in professional life. Students also have access to a variety of extracurricular learning opportunities, including Engineering by Design, AZ Science Center Fun Labs, and Lego Club.

    Educational inquiry and real world experiences lead to high levels of interaction focused on the importance of mastering core skills to be successful in all facets of life. Community partnerships, including Growing Organic Kids, provide experiences like growing a sustainable garden on campus. STEAM Family Nights and Showcase Night share learning and accomplishments with the community. Park students grow to be communicators, designers, problem solvers, and innovators.
