Programs and Services

The Madison School District employs a continuum of services to support students based on their individual strengths, needs, and IEP goals. Services are designed to provide the appropriate level of support while promoting participation in the school community and access to grade-level learning opportunities.

Service options may include:

  • General education setting without special education services – The student participates fully in the general education classroom without specialized instruction or related services.
  • General education setting with supplementary supports and services – The student remains in the general education classroom and receives accommodations, modifications, specialized materials, consultation, or other supports to assist with learning and participation.
  • Co-taught classrooms – The student receives instruction in a general education classroom taught collaboratively by a general education teacher and a special education teacher. This model provides access to grade-level curriculum with embedded specialized instruction and accommodations.
  • Resource services – The student participates in the general education classroom for part of the school day and receives targeted specialized instruction from a special education teacher outside the general education setting at designated instructional times.
  • Specialized Classroom services – The student receives specialized instruction and supports from a special education teacher for a majority of the school day in a specialized classroom environment designed to address individualized learning and functional needs.
